The National Circle for Indigenous Medical Education (NCIME) is pleased to offer the following virtual workshop on Faculty Development Needs for Delivering Culturally Safe Curriculum. This virtual workshop will walk you through the basics of cultural safety and identify strategies for cultivating your own critical self-reflexive practice. As a healthcare professional, it is important that you identify tools and develop strategies that can assist you in the delivery of culturally safe care, and curriculum objectives. This process begins by first identifying your intersecting positions of power and privilege that authorize access to material, cultural, social, and economic benefits. The latter half of this virtual workshop will walk you through self-reflexive journaling to begin the process of critically assessing your underlying anti-Indigenous biases, and understand, for yourself, where these beliefs first emerged and how they continue to influence your interactions with Indigenous people, culture, content, or messaging.
The National Circle for Indigenous Medical Education (NCIME) is pleased to offer the following virtual workshop on Applying Assessment Tools for Quality Improvement and Evaluation. This virtual workshop is intended to provide comprehensive recommendations for medical schools and medical education organizations to map, develop, and implement critical steps that will aid medical schools and associated education organizations towards the improvement of learner assessments in medical education. This virtual workshop will provide attendees guidance on identifying and approaching Indigenous expertise needed to develop an Indigenous Advisory Council (IAC) to help develop and deliver improved assessment tools and evaluation. Next, you will consider where to implement Indigenous learner assessments across curriculum and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing assessment formats. Finally, the last half of this virtual workshop will provide you detailed information on how to work alongside the newly established IAC to begin the development, and evaluation process.
